Each season has its charms. We continue to open the farm and host events through the shorter and cooler days of the year. On Sunday, November 2, we switch over to our Winter open hours of Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from 11 am to 4 pm. In the darkest days of Winter it is completely dark by 5 pm, so we can't stay open that late. We have no lighting other than sunshine.

Some things to see growing and fruiting, as well as to u-pick in November include: horseradish roots, ginger roots, arugula, peppers, olives, pak choy, fennel, bay leaves, Makrut Thai lime leaves, radishes, beets, kale, collard greens, green onions, rhubarb, lettuce, pea sprouts, collard greens, dill, parsley, rosemary, thyme, calendula flowers, Malabar spinach, persimmons, cactus pears, and komatsuna.
Komatsuna is also known as Japanese spinach. It is officially in the mustard genus, but the taste is so mild that it cooks up like spinach and can be used in any recipe calling for spinach.
This is the time of year when we might get some measureable rain, at least we hope so! We stay open on rainy days - just dress for the weather and wear shoes you don't mind getting a bit muddy. Fall colors are also a display to be seen and enjoyed in November.

Our plant nursery remains open and is well-stocked with a number of different perennial edible plants, including strawberries, artichokes, currants, rhubarb, hops, bababerries, mints, chives, elderberries, grapes, and more. All these can be planted during the late Fall and Winter and will be established in your garden if you plant them now. They will burst into robust new growth again in the Spring.
Another fun thing to do at the farm is to interact with Magic Ben, our horse. Magic Ben comes out to greet our guests during our regular open hours. A more interactive horse session can be reserved ahead of time.

Cloverfield Organic Farm is located at 501 La Paloma Rd., El Sobrante, CA, 94803. Free parking is readily available (as long as we don't get flooding rain). Hope to see you at the farm soon!
