We've been saving up for a few years to get this project done. The old driveway into our farm had deteriorated to a point where it was getting eroded away and growing weeds in the cracks. Our old driveway may have been up to 50 years old.
When the rains got heavy during our recent winters, the bottom of the driveway would get flooded and become impassable. We worried about our apartment neighbors getting flooded too.
We hired Smartscaping, a contractor in Berkeley, to tackle this repaving project. They had the heavy equipment and experience to do a fantastic job for us. https://www.mysmartscaping.com/
First things first, a new drainage pipe was installed under the driveway at the bottom of the hill, so we hope to have less flooding in this spot than what we've had during the last few wet winters.
It took a few days of heavy work in the hot sun.
The old driveway was torn out and hauled away. A thick underlayer of packed gravel went in next, then a smooth heavy layer of new asphalt.
The new paving goes right out to the front gate at La Paloma Road and presents a professional and attractive appearance for our little farm.
Wow, what an improvement!
The new driveway is ready to use. Please come on out to Cloverfield Organic Farm at 501 La Paloma Rd., El Sobrante, CA. Feel free to drive down our newly paved driveway and we have free parking at the base of the hill. Our regular open hours for our nursery and u-pick farm are noon to five on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. When we change over to Standard Time in early November, our open hours will switch to eleven to four. We are open year-round.
Hope you can come visit soon! www.cloverfieldfarm.us
