Calendula officinalis.  Calendula flowers are both edible and medicinal.  The Resina variety of calendula is the strain with the highest level of healthful resins.  Approx. 2100 seeds/oz.

The plants grow about a foot high and are covered with various shades of bright yellow and orange flowers over several weeks. The seeds can be directly seeded into your garden, placing the seeds about 1/4 inch deep and about 6 inches apart.  Water the seedbed regularly (daily if there is no rain).  Cut back on the watering once the sprouts come up. When the seeds form on the plants after the flower petals drop, leave a few behind and they will will readily self-seed themselves the next season.

The flowers are beautiful in the garden.  The flower petals are edible when fresh.  The dried flowers can be brewed into a delicious tea or used to make healing skin treatments.  Some people use the dried flower petals to make fabric dyes.  Having these flowers close to your other plants attacts beneficial insects (including pollinators) and protects your whole garden from insect pests.
