About the Role

An organic farmer at Cloverfield Organic Farm performs all the duties of a farm intern and additionally provides training and work direction to farm interns, hosts booked services at the farm, and may perform daily hand watering outside of regular u-pick hours when it is needed. Farmers must work productively and accurately with minimal supervision. Farmers must strive to improve farm profitability and provide excellent customer service. Farmers are expected to maintain a positive attitude, even under occasionally stressful conditions, and work exceptionally well with all other employees, visitors, customers, and farm team members. Farmers are expected to work at least 10 - 15 hours per week and it is preferable if they can be available at times to host booked events during hours outside of our regular u-pick hours. Farmers are provided with 3 Cloverfield Organic Farm t-shirts and farmers have the opportunity to purchase additional farm attire at half the cost.

We compensate our farmers at a starting wage of $20.76/hour. Farmers start earning paid time off after six months of employment.

Requirements

Previous gardening or farming experience is necessary. Desirable to have college-level education in agriculture, plant science, environmental science, horticulture, forestry, or equivalent. Must be capable of working outdoors on your feet for extended periods of time. Should be capable of working outdoors under all weather conditions, and be able to lift, squat, use several types of garden tools, and bend easily at joints. Farmer should be quick to learn, enthusiastic about organic & bio-intensive farming, always foster a positive attitude and possess great team-working skills. Have the ability to guide others and promote a highly productive and profitable farm work environment.
