About the Role

An organic farm intern at Cloverfield Organic Farm performs a broad range of certified organic farming activities, including: vegetable bed preparation and planting, seed starting, plant propagation, watering, weeding, mowing, weed-whacking, composting, drip irrigation installation & maintenance, herb/seed harvesting & processing, packaging of seeds and herbs, grapevine training & trellising, pomology, and plant nursery operations. Farm interns have interaction with farm visitors and u-pick customers. Farm interns are expected to work at least one five-hour day per month with a 6-month minimum commitment. More hours may be made available as needed to fill in for vacations or to support growth of the farm business. Farm work occurs under all weather conditions and you must be capable of somewhat physically demanding labor, working at an industrious pace. Work days are typically on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays during our regular u-pick hours. Special projects and farm events may be scheduled during weekdays when we are not open to the public.

We compensate our farm interns at a starting wage of $17.17/hour. We provide farm interns with a Cloverfield Organic Farm t-shirt and farm interns have the opportunity to purchase additional farm attire at half the cost.

Requirements

Minimum of high school graduate or equivalent. Must be highly motivated to learn and practice organic farming. Should be capable of moderately strenuous outdoor work, including extensive time on feet, bending, shoveling, squating, and lifting. Have healthy tolerance for all weather conditions. Consistently foster a positive attitude and work exceptionally well with others. Previous farming or gardening experience is a plus, but not a prerequisite.

About the Company

Our farm hires farm interns periodically as new openings occur. On average we hire up to four new farm interns each year.
